What is PetSiteGuides.com?
Pet Site Guides is a directory-style website that showcases websites that are about pets. Each Guide, or category, contains some of the best websites to be found within that topic.
We offer all qualifying pet-related website owners the opportunity to advertise their sites for free. Website owners may also participate in our Gold and Silver advertising options which are available for a small extra fee.
As our avian friend with a bit of attitude is displaying his ability to listen, we ask that all webmasters consider the following information prior to submitting their sites to Pet Site Guides.
We treat the following information as our contract with all submitters regarding how the guides are run as well as what sites are considered for acceptance. If you have any additional questions or do not understand any part of our terms of service, please let us know.
All Pet Websites
- Must be in English.
- Need not be in perfectly grammatically-correct sentences, but they must be understandable and complete.
- Should be directly related to the guide the site is submitted to.
- Must be in full working order and not obviously under construction.
Types of Sites Accepted
- All sites will be evaluated based upon the category they are submitted to.
- Sites containing content that fits in more than one category must have several pages directly related to the category in which they were submitted. For example, if you sell dog leashes and list a single dog food recipe; you will not be accepted in the Dog Food Guide.
- Blatant submissions to the wrong category will cause a site to be banned.
- No sites containing adult content, hurtful language, encourages the mistreatment of animals, or anything else not child or pet-friendly will be accepted.
- Sites hosted at free hosts or are located on larger sites, will be accepted; but may be more thoroughly reviewed prior to inclusion.
- Sites that appear to be only made for Adsense and offer no apparent value to the visitor will not be accepted.
- Sites that are only selling affiliate products will not be accepted.
- Sites displaying borrowed/stolen or machine generated content will not be accepted.
- Squidoo Lenses, social networking user pages, and similar pages will not be accepted.
- We welcome submissions from small business owners that are maintaining 'shops' on larger websites.
- We believe that not every animal should be brought home and kept as pets. Websites that encourage truly wild animals be placed in regular homes or that promote the keeping of otherwise unsafe animals will not be accepted.
Submission Guidelines
- Please submit the URL of your domain or of the page where the content matches that of the category being submitted to. (You may submit up to three links to your site, but all three links must be to pages that are included on your main navigation menu.)
- Sites submitting multiple pages from the same domain must submit each page to a different Guide.
- Site titles will become your link text. Since sites are listed in the order in which they were received (oldest first), link text has no impact on listing order and should be used to describe your site.
- Do not capitalize every word in your description. Write a description that is informational and not merely a list of keywords.
- Site titles and descriptions that are keyword stuffed will not be accepted.
- If a site offers only links to other sites, the description must convey that. For example: We have listed sites that have free pet information. All links are categorized as to breed. Visit our site and quickly find information on keeping your pet happy and healthy.
- All entries in the guides may be edited for clarity and spelling.
Images
Sites listed on Pet Site Guides are accompanied by a product picture, animal picture, site banner or logo. This has been done to help invite visitors of Pet Site Guides to in turn visit the sites we advertise. By submitting to Pet Site Guides, you are granting us permission to use one of your pictures. All copyrights are retained by the submitting site.
Each site is human-reviewed and the picture will be chosen by Pet Site Guides. Once the picture has been chosen and the listing has been posted, an email will be sent to the submitter. It is understandable that a website owner may not wish to use a particular picture for a variety of reasons - just reply to the email to let us know and tell us if you have a picture that you would prefer us to use.
Banner Details (Gold Listings only)
Gold Listing Advertisers will be asked to email a .jpg file of their banner. All banners are subject to approval. We would rather refund the advertising fee than display a banner that is not in keeping with the goals and objectives of this site. Banners may be no taller than 72px and no wider than 470px. We do not accept banners with animation or flashing effects.
Picture Details
Site owners retain all copyrights to pictures used on Pet Site Guides. To ensure availability, a common format, and prevent any foolishness, all pictures will reside on our server. All pictures are resized to 150px wide and given a border. We have no specific height limitation but will not use a picture that is substantially taller than a typical listing on the guides.
Picture Use
Pictures from our listed sites will only be used with their listing. They will not be used to promote another site listed on Pet Site Guides, affiliate or other advertising for another website or company, or any other site affiliated with Pet Site Guides without prior written (e-mail) approval from the copyright holder.
From time to time, Pet Site Guides will add a listing for a site that we think is outstanding. Those sites are initially displayed without a picture. When we post sites on our own, we contact the site owner and request permission to use one of their images. We take copyright law seriously and make every attempt to respect the copyrights of all sites listed on Pet Site Guides.
If you are the owner of a site listed on Pet Site Guides that does not have an accompanying image, please contact us so that we may obtain your permission to add one.
Reciprocal Links
Reciprocal links are greatly appreciated, but are not required for participation in our site. If you do opt to place a link for petsiteguides.com on your website please use the following URL, link text and description or something similar:

Paid Advertising
If a site pays for additional advertising and is not accepted, a full refund will be issued.
Premium advertising space is limited and if a Guide has existing advertisers, they will be given first right of refusal prior to their status being downgraded. Sites which opt to discontinue their premium advertising will remain in the guides but drop down to a regular/free listing and their listing will be reformatted appropriately.
If appropriate, we will put anyone interested in premium advertising on Pet Site Guides on a waiting list. No deposit or other charges will be incurred to be places on the waiting list.
